IRS's Free Facilitated Self Assistance

The IRS has started a new initiative called Facilitated Self Assistance (FSA). Under FSA, taxpayers prepare their own return using online interview-based software, while IRS-certified volunteers stand ready to assist with tax questions and/or computer issues.  To find a location near you check the IRS's FSA list.
